Hazelcroft Rescue is a very small organization and we value the support of volunteers in helping us run the rescue. We have a wide range of roles for volunteers and often have opporunities for new volunteers to join our team. We have listed some of the volunteer activities below. If you would like to volunteer to help us we would be interested to hear from you. Priority is given to those who are already known to us but we do welcome newcomers, especially if you can make an ongoing commitment to help regularly. We're sorry but we can't offer work experience to those under the age of 18.
Activities we need help with include:
- Cleaning cages/hutches - Preparing vegetables - Grooming and trimming long haired guinea pigs - Guinea pig nail cutting - Washing and filling water bottles - Taking bags of soiled bedding to the tip - Collecting feed and bedding from local suppliers - Putting guinea pigs out in runs to graze in good weather then bringing them back in - IT support - Maintenance of hutches, cages and runs including weatherproofing in spring time - Handling and taming, especially of nervous guinea pigs - Fundraising including attending fundrasing events, applying for grants, running car boot sales etc! - Carrying out home-checks
